In the workplace, independent employees are sometimes viewed as non-team players, this is not always the case. They require control over their own decision making and work, and freedom to achieve their goals as they see fit. Then they are quite willing team players for social and bonding activities.

Often self-motivated and self-discipline, they have the drive to achieve their goals independently and autonomously. They like to do tasks alone, and often do not care what others think of them, having strength and confidence to stand up for what they believe and move forward.

They do not like to rely on others for support, decision making, resources and prefer to be self-sufficient. This means they are held fully responsible and must take ownership of the outcomes from their actions.

Make it clear that you can work without supervision and then strive to do so. Clarify your role and tasks and goals, what you need to achieve, and then put your head down and work hard to achieve them. This requires a structure and self-discipline, try blocking time in your calendar for your independent working hours and don’t allow any interruption.
